NaNDA Releases Training and Vocation Schools Dataset, Launches NETS Update (through 2022)
NaNDA is pleased to announce the release of our Training and Vocation Schools dataset, covering 1990-2022. This new dataset provides researchers with longitudinal data on educational and vocational training establishments at the neighborhood level—critical infrastructure for understanding workforce development, educational access, and economic opportunity across communities.

This release marks the beginning of a comprehensive refresh of NaNDA’s NETS-based datasets. Over the coming months, users can expect updates through 2022 for:
- Social Services
- Personal Care and Laundry
- Civic, Social, and Religious Organizations
- Health Care
- Liquor, Tobacco, Cannabis, Vape, and Convenience Stores
- Post Offices and Banks
- Grocery and Food Stores
- Eating and Drinking Places
- Arts, Entertainment and Leisure
- Recreation
- Law Enforcement
- Retail Destinations and Services
- Dollar Stores
These dataset updates will extend researchers’ ability to track neighborhood-level business patterns through the pandemic period and into recovery, supporting studies on community resilience, health equity, and environmental change.
The Training and Vocation Schools dataset is publiclly available on NaNDA’s ICPSR repository under a Creative Commons Non-Commercial license.
